What is TSI Motor?

TSI engines are the name of gasoline engines produced by Volkswagen. Although we think of it as a standard engine today, they changed the revolution in this sector when they first came out. TSI (Turbo Stratified Injection) means Turbo Gradual Injection. The fact that it has direct injection and has a turbo are the two most basic features of this engine. Volkswagen told everyone that the formulas were very easy when they came up with the idea of this engine. They said they did this with the aim of less friction, smaller engines, less power loss and even higher efficiency.

Performance and Power of TSI Engines

In general, if we look at it, the 1.4 TSI has reached the periods when it received 160 hp from the engine. We can figure out how he managed to do this in a very simple way. The most important factor in their possession of this power is direct injection, fuel is transferred directly into the piston. In other words, with direct spraying, the engine works at much higher values. With these values, higher power values and higher efficiency are formed. By adding a turbo to the direct injection, more air is sent to the engine. With more air being sent, the efficiency increases with the increased pressure. Volkswagen has changed a lot of systems compared to its old engines to get this. The engine cover has been made much lighter, much lighter and redesigned pistons have been used, the camshaft design has been changed to be completely lightweight and compatible with the new pistons. New injectors were manufactured and used in this engine.

New Generation Engines

New intercooler was produced for these engines. Its purpose is to send a larger amount of air to the engine so that it can reach a higher efficiency. If we look at it now, it may seem very standard. When Volkswagen first introduced it, it surprised with the horsepower and torque values provided by the 1.2 – 1.4 TSI engines. At that time, he reduced the emission values as much as possible. As a result of these, Volkswagen said that it literally has the engine it wants. It has produced an engine that consumes little fuel at low revs in standard use and reaches high horsepower and torque values at high revs when you want performance.
